Skills Maintenance 2026/2027

This season, the dry components are:

SRC & Bronze

  • Primary assessment
  • 1-person CPR for 2 minutes on Adult manikin
  • 1-person CPR for 2 minutes on Infant manikin
  • 2-person CPR with AED

Advanced Resuscitation Techniques

  • CPR as Bronze
  • Oxy check and BVM set up
  • OP airway insertion
  • 4-person team CPR scenario including primary assessment (DRSABCD)

Signals

  • Beach to water
  • Water to beach
  • Flags

Wet components for Bronze and SRC this season are:

Run-Swim-Rescue (timed) 100m Run – 100m Swim in 3:30 minutes or less

  • Same as last season

Board Rescue

  • This season see’s the return of a conscious board rescue to be completed

IRB Driver and Crew

  • Practical components concentrating on pick-ups, approaching waves at correct angle

eLearning

Stay ahead of everything and start the season having completed your eLearning Skills Maintenance requirements.

eLearning can be done now so log into your Members Hub and follow the instructions to get these done before you head down to the Club to complete your face-to-face theory session.  Don’t worry, it won’t be as long as last season but I look forward to seeing you all again for your skills maintenance session.

eLearning skills maintenance is very interactive and here are the steps for your follow:

  • Log onto the SLSA Members Hub
  • Click on eLearning tab which sits just under ‘Dashboard’ on the top line menu
  • Click on Log into eLearning
  • Click on Training Library, 3rd selection down on the left-hand side menu
  • There will be a tile that looks like this

Click on View Courses

This screen will appear and you can ENROL into your award that needs to be done.

From the lefthand side menu, go into My Training and start.

There is eLearning for SRC, Bronze, ART, IRB Crew, Silver Medallion IRB Driver, Silver Medallion Patrol Captain, Silver Medallion Beach Management, RWC Operator, Age Manager and Age Managers Assistant so log in and get busy.  Remember, you only need to complete the eLearning for the awards you are current in and it wont take long at all J

Your Lifesaving and Education teams have been working on a skills maintenance calendar which is set out below so members can plan ahead and book their sessions.

Dates have been set for both dry and wet proficiency sessions:

This year we will be using the Assessing App for bookings to save on paperwork and emails and here are some instructions.

Once you are in eLearning, click on Training Event in the menu on the left hand side and a calendar will show up.

Move to the month, click on the session and hit enrol…..its as simple as that !
