Skills Maintenance 2023-24

 

SKILLS MAINTENANCE - BRONZE & SRC​​ 

 

We are hoping this year that for most Bronze Proficiencies can take place whilst on Patrol. ​​ If you are on the PM patrol, please plan to be the 1 hour before hand so that your DRY proficiency can be​​ completed. ​​ If you are on the AM Patrol, please plan to stay an extra hour to complete your DRY proficiency. Wet proficiencies will take place whilst on Patrol. A trainer has been allocated to each patrol to assist your Patrol Captain.

 

Bronze Skills Maintenance​​ consists of 3 components. All 3 component must be completed.

 

  • On Line Skills Maintenance​​ - Please ensure you complete the on line Skills Maintenance. There are 4 modules to complete. Pease ensure all 4 modules are completed before doing your DRY or WET proficiency. Instructions on how to access skills maintenance can be found by clicking on the following link. If you are an SRC, please complete the SRC Skills Maintenance.

On Line Skills Maintenance Instructions

 

 

 

  • DRY Proficiencies​​ will include:

 

  • Signals​​ â€“ review signals used on the beach.

  • Radios​​ â€“ what to check before​​ patrol, the 4 P’s. what channels to use and when, what to do of you damage the radio.

  • CPR​​ - 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on and Adult and Infant manikin

  • Group CPR

 

  • WET Proficiencies​​ wil take place whilst on Patrol if conditions allow and you will be required to:-

 

  • Complete the​​ Run/Swim/Run​​ in 8 minutes or under

  • A​​ tube rescue​​ which finishes in a​​ first aid scenario​​ (DRSABCD on an unconscious breathing patient)​​

ART (AID) SKILLS MAINTENANCE ROSTER​​ 

 

If you hold and​​ ARTC, ART(AID) or ART​​ Award, you will need to attend an​​ ARTC proficiency. ​​ 

 

Pease Note: This will also cover your Bronze DRY component, so there is no need to​​ attend your Patrol DRY proficiency.​​ 

 

The is​​ no​​ one line Skills Maintenance for ARTC. ​​ Just complete you online Bronze Skills Maintenance.

 

ART Proficiency will take 45min to an hour depending on numbers.

OP Airways: correct measurement, insertion, understanding when and why an OP airway is introduced.
