Skills Maintenance 2025/26
There is some great news about Skills Maintenance, or proficiencies as we all know it, so keep reading.
This year, active patrolling members will be required to do both dry and wet Skills Maintenance sessions, however, the dry is a theory based practical component for Lifesaving CPR. You will be able to book into a session on either Wednesday or Thursday night over the next few months. CPR hasn’t changed for the last 20 years and this is an exciting new way of delivering CPR.
There is an eLearning component which must be done before you attend your face-to-face practical session….see further details below. You will also do a signals refresher as part of this session.
Great news is that the wet component is now a Run / Swim / Rescue in 3:30 minutes.
Simply put, there is a 100m run, 100m swim with a tube out to a patient. Once you reach the patient and secure with your tube, the time stops, and you will then be required to return your patient to shore. This is the only wet component for Skills Maintenance for the 2025/26 season.
Your Lifesaving and Education teams have been working to put some dates in calendar so members can attend, complete their face-to-face session and start the season without having to worry about getting your proficiency done.
