WELCOME TO WARRIEWOOD NIPPERS

The Nippers program is designed for children aged from 5 to 13 years of age to teach them essential water safety skills, surf awareness and lifesaving techniques in a safe, fun and engaging environment on our beautiful beach.

We do this through a structured program of lessons provided by Surf Life Saving Australia (SLSA). Nippers also provides an environment for children to learn teamwork, build self-confidence and to acquire strong club and community values.

We promote an active lifestyle and provide numerous opportunities to develop water and beach skills, and to improve overall fitness.

Warriewood also supports those nippers wishing to compete in carnivals, and strongly encourages everyone to have fun.

WARRIEWOOD – A FAMILY CLUB

Warriewood is also known as the “family club”. While our nippers are participating in the surf lifesaving program, we also cater for younger siblings with supervised beach events (see ‘White Caps’ below) and for those older teenagers, we run a structured Cadet program for 15-17 year olds. Warriewood successful cadet program provides a unique, tailored environment for teenagers to be together, stay connected and enjoy the beach.

Parents are required to stay on the beach with their kids during the Nippers sessions and we always welcome and encourage those parents wishing to become more involved in the club to do so.

There are opportunities to assist with or to become an Age Manager, help out with beach and water set ups, assist with our weekly BBQ, social events, junior committee or go the next step and train for your Bronze Medallion. With this, you will be able to be part of our Water Safety team in the surf at nippers and of course, become a patrolling member. This is a great example of community involvement and achievement and a fun way to stay fit.

HOW, WHEN & WHERE

Nippers at Warriewood is usually held on Sunday morning from 10.00am through to 11.30am, followed by a barbecue (from time to time we run a special Twilight / afternoon nippers). Our nippers will participate in beach events including flags and sprints. For those aged 9 and over, there is strongly supervised surf skills program encompassing swimming and surf rescue training boards (conditions permitting).

The Nippers season for 2025/2026 will run for 20 weeks in total. The first term will commence on Sunday, 19 October through to Saturday, 20 December where we finish with a Christmas party. We then recommence on Sunday, 18 January 2026 through to Sunday, 22 March 2026.

For those wishing to visit the club in person we will be holding two Information and Registration Days at the Warriewood Surf Club between 10am and 2pm on Sunday, 7 & 14 September 2025.

WHITE CAPS (SIBLINGS YOUNGER THAN 5 YEARS OLD)

Warriewood offers a unique program for younger siblings (younger than 5yo on the 30th of September and old enough to walk). The White Cap program is packed with fun activities on the beach. It is a great opportunity to get the whole family out and create new connections.

Participation is free of charge; you just have to purchase a high viz vest and a white cap from our clothing shop.

Please note that the program is open to nipper siblings only and, as per the Nippers program, requires parent/guardian supervision at all times.

NIPPERS CARNIVALS

Is your child interested in competing at surf lifesaving carnivals? There are a number of junior carnivals held throughout the season catering for either sand or water events. We will run training sessions on Sunday mornings before nippers – times to be confirmed.

Carnivals are competition-based events where Nippers 8+yrs compete against the other Northern Beaches clubs in age and event specific competition. It is a fantastic opportunity for child/ren to compete in both individual and team events. Opportunity to advance through to Branch, State and National level competition is also available.

Feel free to register your interest by speaking to your child’s Age Manager, our Carnival Coordinator or the Nipper President for more information.
