Chieftain Challenge Swim – 13 December, 2020

Dear Ocean Swim Enthusiasts,

A  major change for this event: it’s reverting to the Turimetta-Warriewood swim course. And it may turn out to be the only formal swim on the Sydney calendar before the end of calendar 2020. With all other scheduled swims either postponed, postponed indefinitely, or cancelled, the Chieftain Challenge may be your only opportunity for a true swim event.

This change also means that the biathlon course between Mona Vale and Warriewood is no more.

The Turimetta-Warriewood swim course is one of the most spectacular on the Sydney calendar. Start from Turimetta beach, on the south side of the headland from Warriewood, then around the head into Warriewood, it truly is a beautiful course, and richly deserves to be regarded as “epic”, as the youngsters might say.

Distance is 2km. There is a limit on entrants of 300 in these Covid-19 times.

There is an alternative rectangular course off Warriewood beach if conditions do not allow starts from Turimetta.

Do not arrive late: swimmers will need to walk across the headland to the start after registration which is approx 10mins up and over the headland.

Be aware, all sporting events are subject to government requirements, which change according to the state of the pandemic. Organizers say—

For the safety of yourself and others, the state government has put a number of rules in place to reduce the risk of COVID-19. We, as an event, must adhere to these restrictions and our event has been approved by providing our COVID safe measures we are implementing. We ask that any attendees adhere to these measures including, not gathering in groups of more than 20 people and maintain 1.5m social distancing. We appreciate your cooperation to keep our event, and community safe.

Get your entries in quick so you don’t miss out and we look forward to welcoming you to WSLSC!
